In Episode 13 , ADI's Brian Molina explains the latest pearl, "Take care of people who take care of you."
Transcript: Many of the leaders that we work with find themselves spending most of their coaching time and effort on their underperformers. Now while on the surface this seems to make sense it's often done at the expense of paying attention to those who are already delivering. And ignoring your top performers can actually result in a decrease in their performance. It's a form of extinction so while it does seem tempting to spend most of your coaching time and effort on your underperformers consider one of Aubrey's pearls of wisdom. Take care of the people who take care of you. Prioritizing those who are already performing can pay off in a number of ways. Your top and middle performers are more likely to be receptive to your suggestions and your feedback. So seeing them develop and improve will help make coaching more personally rewarding for you while also paying off for the business. finally focusing on your top performers helps prevent them from feeling like their contributions don't matter or aren't even noticed for that matter at the end of the day you get more from helping your middle and top performers make continuous improvements even if they're small than just turning around one single problem performer so remember make sure to take care of the people who take care of you.
